Internship in Europe or festival? Or both! Ratatataataaaaaa being a big fan of festivals, I give you a little overview of the best festivals in France and in Europe! Any kind of music, style, big and small, no favoritism! Ranking by country, it will be easier to read ! Come on, let’s have a beer 🙂

France
Festival du film de Dinard –  27 September to 1 October 2017 – Dinard

A bit of film culture for this festival which presents the cinematographic productions of our friends from across the Channel. With this 28th edition, 6 films in competitions, 30,000 people expected, and the Golden Hitchock Ciné + Grand Jury Prize awarded to the most eminent director, I advise you to miss it! If you do not have the time this year, it will take place next year too.

Les Vieilles Charrues – 19 to 22 July 2018 – Carhaix

With 280,000 festival-goers this year, this edition was a great success! Not a drop of rain (something to put forward for this region ..) and beautiful headliners were at the rendezvous including hardcore Daft-Punk. Tip: Do not expect anything else this week!

Interceltique – 3 to 12 August 2018 – Lorient

At its 47th edition, Scotland was highlighted. Next year, the festival will highlight Wales, 10 years after his first invitation. It is one of the most important festival by its number of visitors, turning on average to 750 000 for the week. Many local artists and groups of Celtic origins come together for an exotic week!

United Kingdom
Boomtown Fair – 9 to 12 August 2018 – Winchester

Regarded as the European Burning Man, the Boomtown Fair is the craziest of English festivals! Launched in 2009 with only 24 000 euros of budget, it welcomed 1000 people. He had 10,000 at the last edition! Mix of rave, circus and old soundsystems, this festival will take you to another dimension!

Belgium
Graspop Metal Meetin  – 22 to 24 June 2018 – Dessel

This will be the 23rd edition next year! 3 days of madness to the rhythm of hardrock and metal. More than 100 artists are expected on 5 stages (the big Rammstein was present during the previous edition, you necessarily know his famous title Du Haaaaast, or Du Hast, quite simply). More than 140,000 people visit each year!

Spain
Primavera Sound Festival – 30 May to 3 June 2018 – Barcelone

It is one of the most successful festivals in Spain. The styles of music presented are more rock, pop and Indie music with artists such as Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, Pixies. Young people from all over the world are also attracted by underground tech / house programming. Workshops, conferences and film screenings punctuate the beautiful Parc del Fòrum – under the Spanish sun, the crowds get busy with concerts during the day, but also after parties in the evening. A summer and musical experience!

Latvia
Salsa Festival – June 2017 – Riga

Salsa, which means “sauce” and also means in Cuban popular language “sensual” and “attractive”, is highlighted in the capital of Latvia. This event welcomes salsa dancers from all over the world. They come to the city center in front of thousands of spectators. Dance shows, music, meetings, but also dance workshops are planned!

 Latvian Song and Dance Celebration – June 2017 – Riga

Latvian Song and Dance Celebration is a festival of traditional dance and music. This event is held from late June to early July, it attracts many singers and dancers. Each group represents an ethnic community, some of them play the game, performing on stage with traditional clothes.

Slovenia
Metaldays – 21 to 28 July 2018 – Tolmin

The Metaldays is held every year in Tolmin during the summer period. This festival is becoming more and more popular every year thanks to important media coverage. Tickets were limited to 12,000 sales in 2010 to avoid an expansion too fast. Metaldays is entirely dedicated to metal music. Medieval architecture, a castle in ruins, the city of Tolmin in Slovenia offers an ideal setting to receive one of the most “dark” festivals of the summer.

Overjam Reggae Festival – August 2018 (dates are coming soon) – Tolmin

Next year will be the 8th edition! Young festival, but qualitative. It is highly appreciated by artists and festival-goers alike by its idyllic setting. Taking place in the beautiful valley of the Soca River. Many artists such as Don Carlos and Ki-Many Marley were present at the previous edition!
