The capital 

A classic but you should know it: The capital of Turkey is not Istanbul, but Ankara! However, Istanbul is the largest city in the country. So there are many opportunities for your internship in Turkey.

Turkey has one of the youngest populations in the world: the average age is 31 and only 9% of the population is over 60 

A wine country 

You didn’t know that! Yet Turkey is the world’s 4ᵉ largest producer of grapes and was among the first to make wine. Don’t be surprised by all these vineyards during your internship abroad. 

Never far from the sea  

Turkey is bordered by three seas: the Black Sea to the north, the Levantine Basin (part of the Mediterranean Sea) to the south, the Aegean Sea to the west and the Sea of Marmara to the north. 

The coffee  

The Turks brought us coffee! In the 16th century! Moreover, during your internship, don’t hesitate to try their traditional coffee, quite different to what you may be used to 

Tea  

Turkey drinks a lot of tea, in fact over 90% of Turks drink at least 1 cup a day! You’ll notice their pretty tulip-shaped cups in which they sip.

A global hub  

Istanbul airport is a very important hub for travel: the national airline serves more than 260 destinations, so there’s plenty to do at the weekend during your course!
