Culinary specialties in Romania! You too, your childhood was rocked by the sweet title of O-Zone “Dragostea Din Tei”? And today you want to fly to Timișoara or to Bucharest for your internship abroad? But what are the culinary specialities? What can you expect? The answer is here:

Ciorba :

Soup of the country! You’ll probably eat it during your internship in Romania. It’s a meat broth with cream. The chosen meat is variable (Beef, Pork, Poultry). But the tradition wants it to be tripe, good luck! Even if it’s obviously delicious.

Sarmale

The typical dish! Don’t escape it, it’s really very good. Basically it’s a cabbage leaf cooked with a stuffing made of rice, minced meat and some herbs.

Cretons & Smoked Bacon :

Little snack to snack on as an aperitif! These are smoked and salted pork bites, flavoured with garlic, pepper and many spices. To be eaten with local bread.

Balmoș

For my cheese lovers, this one’s for you. Mountains of butter on cheese. Not very diety, but excellent.

Mici

The must-have for your BBQ in Romania! These are spicy sausages. Available everywhere for your greatest pleasure.

Papanaşi

A bit of sweetness: These fried cheese fritters served still warm with a sweet cream is a must in the country.
